How to Do a Wax Reading

Three steps to unlocking the wax's message

1
Focus on Your Question
Form a clear question or topic in your mind. Close your eyes, take three slow deep breaths, and let the question fill your awareness — releasing anything that doesn't belong to it.
2
Begin the Reading
Press the button and watch as the wax melts and falls into the water. Our system replicates authentic ceromancy — every result is unique and shaped by the energy of the moment.
3
Read the Message
Receive the description of the shape that formed and its interpretation. Trust your first impression — your intuitive read of the symbol matters more than strict adherence to the textbook meaning.

Ceromancy: An Ancient Art

Ceromancy (from Greek κηρός — wax, μαντεία — divination) is one of the oldest methods of reading the future, known in Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt more than 4,000 years ago. Priests and seers poured melted wax to receive answers from the gods.

In medieval Europe, ceromancy became especially widespread across Eastern Europe and the Slavic lands. On Christmas Eve and Midsummer Night, young women poured wax into cold water and studied the shapes that formed, seeking answers about love, fortune, and fate.

Traditionally, wax from church-blessed candles was used — believed to carry sacred power. It was poured into a silver bowl of well water by the light of a single candle, in complete silence.

Today ceromancy is recognised as a powerful tool for psychological self-reflection. The shapes the wax forms activate archetypal thinking, giving the subconscious a way to express what the rational mind resists or fears to admit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does wax divination work?
Wax is melted and poured into cold water — the shape it hardens into is read as a symbol. The online version generates the same symbolic shapes and maps them to the traditional meanings.
What can wax divination reveal?
The shape reflects the energy around your situation — potential events, things working in the background, and what to be aware of. It's particularly useful for practical, everyday questions.
Is a specific time of day needed for the reading?
Traditionally, evening by candlelight. The online version works anytime, though the reading tends to go better when you're genuinely calm and focused rather than rushing through it.
How often can I do a wax reading?
Once a week per question. Ask the same thing daily and the wax just starts contradicting itself — you're not giving events time to move.
