Protecting Children Through Magic

Children are the most energetically vulnerable — their aura isn't fully formed yet, and they're open to the world in a way adults aren't. Magical protection of children exists across every culture for exactly this reason.

Signs Your Child May Need Protection

  • Frequent illness with no medical explanation
  • Nightmares and unexplained fears
  • A sudden personality shift after spending time with specific people
  • Persistent crying or, conversely, sudden apathy in a young child
  • The child talks about "scary figures" or "voices"

Safe Protective Tools for Children

Red Thread

One of the simplest and most effective amulets. Tie a red woollen thread around the child's left wrist (or ankle for infants — not too tight). The thread absorbs the evil eye. When it frays or darkens, replace it. Recite any protective prayer or intention while tying.

Safety Pin Amulet

A safety pin pinned to the inside of the child's clothing is an ancient ward against the evil eye. Before pinning, pass it through sage smoke and say: "Protect this child from unkind eyes and ill thoughts."

Amethyst

The stone of spiritual protection and calm. Place a small amethyst under the child's mattress for peaceful sleep and protection from night fears.

Crib Protection

Hang above the child's bed: a bundle of three dried juniper branches, strung blue beads (against evil eye), or a bunch of dried lavender.

Ritual for a Newborn Coming Home

When the baby arrives home for the first time, walk through all the rooms with a lit candle, moving clockwise. Then smoke the whole space with sage and speak your intention for the child's protection and wellbeing aloud.
